SOPA: India’s soybean output may rise in 2022/23, imports fall by 60%

Foreign media, November 16: India’s soybean production is likely to increase by 1.27% year-on-year in the 2022/23 season, which starts on October 1, the Soybean Processors Association of India (SOPA) said on Wednesday.

SOPA expects soybean production in the current year to reach 12.040 million tons, up from 11.889 million tons in 2021/22.

Beginning stocks are estimated at 2.515 million tons, compared with 183,000 tons in the previous year.

India’s soybean supply in 2022/23 is estimated at 14.755 million tonnes, up from 12.627 million tonnes in the previous year.

Soybean imports are forecast at 200,000 tonnes, down 64% from the previous year’s 555,000 tonnes.
