Foreign media, April 13: The Parana State Department of Rural Economy (DERAL) released its weekly report this week that the 2021/22 soybean harvest in Parana state is 94 percent complete so far, up from 88 percent a week earlier.

The report said 66 percent of soybean crops were in good condition, 26 percent were in fair condition, and 8 percent were in poor condition. 98% of soybeans are mature. By comparison, the previous week was 62% in good condition, 29% in fair condition, 9% in poor condition, and 93% of soybeans were ripe.

DERAL estimates the state’s 2021/22 soybean production at 11.585 million tonnes, down 42% from the previous year’s 19.822 million tonnes, due to severe drought in the state. Soybean yields averaged 2,048 kg (34.1 bags) per hectare, down from 3,547 kg (59.1 bags) in 2020/21.

The state’s soybean planting area was 5.656 million hectares, an increase of 1% from the previous year’s 5.59 million hectares.
