BAGE: Argentina soybean harvest 77.6% complete as of May 18

Foreign media, May 22 News: The weekly report released by the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange (BAGE) said that in the week ended May 11, 2022, Argentina’s 2021/22 soybean harvest was 77.6%, more than a week The previous 64.9% was 12.7% higher and the average yield was 2.94 tons per hectare, down from 3.01 tons per hectare a week earlier.

Soybean production so far has been harvested at 35.8 million tonnes.

The exchange currently continues to forecast soybean production in 2021/2022 at 42 million tons, down from 43.1 million tons in the previous year.

On May 12, the U.S. Department of Agriculture estimated Argentina’s soybean production at 42 million tons, down from 43.5 million tons forecast last month and also below the previous year’s 46.2 million tons.

Argentine soybean plantings this season are at 16.3 million hectares, down from 16.9 million hectares in 2020/21, as Argentina is more profitable from growing corn.

Argentine soybean planting began at the end of October, and harvesting began in March and ended in May.
